Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix

Sonny is a seven year old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix.  He’s a gorgeous tri-color with an excellent disposition, but he is carrying a few extra pounds. His favorite games are fetch with a tennis ball and tug-of-war with anything. He is well-trained, but needs a strong hand on the leash as he likes to take the lead. He loves and easily makes friends with other dogs, but is also very territorial when it comes to strange dogs on his home turf. He’s extremely protective of his family, loyal and obedient, and loves to perform (especially for food). He’ll sleep through the loudest thunderstorm, but will alert us whenever any strangers (human or canine) are around.

Sonny’s family schedule does not allow us to give Sonny the attention he needs. Both of Sonny’s parents now work full time, and our kids’ activities keep us busy on evenings and weekends. Sonny would thrive in a home with a large fenced-in yard and someone who’ll give him lots of attention and exercise.
