Animal Friends Recognizes 50 Local Kid Artists

What:
367 local kids helped Animal Friends celebrate National “Be Kind to Animals Week” by creating posters with the theme “Pets Are For Loving.” Animal Friends will recognize 50 young artists by presenting prizes for the best posters at an awards ceremony and dessert banquet tonight.

Congratulations to the winners of Animal Friends' 2009 Be Kind to Animals Week poster contest:
Grade 1: Kayla O'Brien, Brooks Elementary, Moon Township
Grade 2: Kiley Rowell, Rogers Elementary, Glenshaw
Grade 3: Patience Gipson, Cornell Elementary, Coraopolis
Grade 4: Hailey Strauss, Immaculate Conception, Pittsburgh
Grade 5: Miranda Miller,  Word of God, Pittsburgh
Grade 6: Micaela Celender, Immaculate Conception, Pittsburgh
Grade 7: Apurva Shinde, South Fayette Middle School, McDonald
Grade 8: Nina Mellon, Riverview High School, Oakmont
 
We are also pleased to recognize 42 Honorable Mention winners who will have their posters displayed at Animal Friends. The students are from Brooks Elementary, Verner Elementary, Montessori Children's Community, Ben Franklin Elementary, McCormick Elementary, Cornell Elementary, Immaculate Conception, Fairless Elementary, homeschools, Word of God, South Fayette, Carson Middle School, Pine-Richland Middle School, and Riverview High School.
