City of Pittsburgh Spay/Neuter Program

City of Pittsburgh residents can receive up to 5 free spay and neuters. Applicants must be residents of the City of Pittsburgh and pay city taxes.

Not sure if you qualify? Call Animal Care and Control at 412.255.2036. Please fill out the official form here. Completed forms need to be mailed to Animal Care and Control. Once they are approved, they will be forwarded to Animal Friends and you will receive a call from an LCSN Program Assistant to schedule a surgery date. It can take 3-4 weeks for the city to process applications. Please do not call the shelter about your application unless you have been contacted by us first.

Those scheduling through the City of Pittsburgh program can receive a microchip for $5, normally $20! Microchips are a permanent form of identification that can help lost animals be returned home.

The City of Pittsburgh program covers the cost of surgery but not vaccinations, microchipping, pain meds, etc. Pricing for additional services can be found here.
