Animal Friends is now an official chapter of Pets for Vets!

We need trainers! Click here if you're interested in training shelter pets specifically matched with the veterans in our Pets for Vets Program!

Navigating the road from active service can be tough. And even tougher for soldiers who are suffering from the effects of PTSD and other challenges. The goal of our Pets for Vets Program is to help heal the emotional wounds of local military veterans by pairing them with a shelter dog, cat or rabbit who is specially selected to match the veterans needs and lifestyle. A team of local trainers will work with the animals to prepare them socially and behaviorally for their new life with the veteran.

Our homeless shelter animals will receive a lifesaving chance while giving our returning soldiers a second chance at health, happiness and, most importantly, the benefits of animal companionship. It’s about second chances for our shelter animals – and our veterans. That’s what we call a perfect match!
