Our Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank helps pet-owning families to keep their four-legged family members by providing them pet food. Even in times of financial hardship, people will sacrifice food for themselves in order to feed the pets they love. By forming partnerships with community food pantries, Chow Wagon enables thousands of people to keep their animal friends’ bellies full.
Who We Serve
Our Chow Wagon currently serves hundreds of families each month by partnering with the following food pantries and Meals on Wheels programs and their members.
Individuals in need of immediate assistance who are not affiliated with a food pantry can contact us at 412.536.3898 to request a one-time donation of pet food. You must be able to make arrangements to pick up your donation from Animal Friends.
We strongly recommend that our Chow Wagon clients’ pets be spayed or neutered. A member of our team will discuss low cost spay/neuter options and schedule your appointment as needed.
How to Help
We want to assist as many pets and people as possible but we need your help! Chow Wagon runs entirely on donations from the community and the need for support exceeds the resources that are available. There are many ways you can contribute to our Chow Wagon and support local families in need:
- Drop off unopened bags or cans of pet food, treats, litter or other supplies in the lobby of our Resource Center.
- Order items from our Amazon Wish List – they’ll be delivered right to our door.
- Organize a pet food drive with your office, school or community group.
- Make a monetary donation to benefit Animal Friends’ Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank.
If you are an individual who would like to learn how you can get involved or need assistance, contact our Pet Retention Coordinator, Alex Stelitano.
