Support Animal Friends’ Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank

Our Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank helps pet-owning families to keep their four-legged family members by providing them pet food. Our Chow Wagon currently serves hundreds of families by partnering with 32 food pantries and Meals on Wheels programs and their members year round.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our community, many families who are struggling to feed themselves are also facing the challenge of feeding their beloved pets. We have seen a dramatic increase in calls, receiving five times the typical number of requests for support. This increase has resulted in 200-400 pounds of pet food being distributed each day.

In order to help alleviate and remove transportation barriers for struggling families, we’re working on bringing food directly to the communities who need it most. Currently, we’ve established pet food hubs in Bellevue, Braddock, Carnegie, Lawrenceville, McKees Rocks, North Side, Sharpsburg, Washington Co. and Wilkinsburg. If you live in one of these communities and need help, please call 412.847.7023.

If you would like to nominate a community for a pet food hub, please email Liz Moser at EMoser@ThinkingOutsideTheCage.org.
